Training held for farmers and SHGs

In commemoration of state government’s programme ‘Year of Capacity Building’, the district sericulture office Kohima conducted a refresher course on ‘fibre spinning’ at the district sericulture office on March 24. A seminar on plantation of Eri food plant at the sericulture farm Tsiesema was also conducted with the staff and sericulture farmers on March 26. Resource persons of the programme were the Superintendent (technical) of Sericulture Kohima and the senior technical staff of the establishment.
Medziphema: A four day training programme on composite fish farming was conducted by KVK Dimapur, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Medziphema from March 23 to 26, sponsored by National Fishery Development Board, Hyderabad.
Altogether 35 farmers and educated unemployed youths from Padampukhri and Purana Bazar participated in the training programme. The training started with prayer by Pastor, Rengma Baptist Fellowship, Medziphema, Joseph N. Rengma, while resource persons of the programme were, SMS – A.Sc. ICAR, Dr W. Rajen Singh, Extension Officer, Fishery Department, Government of Nagaland, N. Yeheto Nartho and Fishery assistant, ICAR, Nagaland Centre, Meren Jamir.
The aims and objective of the programme was to encourage Naga farmers and youths to undertake fishery as a means to earn livelihood.
Participants were trained in fishery pond preparation, breeding, feed formulation, composite fish farming, Fish diseases and their control, integrated fishery and ornamental fishery
Pfutsero: As part of the organizations’ on going effort to bring about changes at the community level, Development Association of Nagaland (DAN), Dimapur conducted trainings at three villages around Pfutsero on community health and detergent production on March 24, 25 and 26.
The program on detergent powder production held at Razeba village on March 24 was attended by 30 participants from 3 different selected and interested groups at Razeba village.
On March 25 and 26 health awareness training programmes were held at Zelome and Sakraba village, which saw about 52 to 78 participants in the training session.
Dr. Kuhitso, Dr. Shevo from Civil Hospital, Pfutsero and Sr. Irine, staff nurse from Nazareth School, Pfutsero facilitated the health awareness program.
The main aim and objectives of the programs were to encourage SHG members to take up various income generation activities at the group level as well as to enlist the community participation in promoting health for all.
While the detergent powder production training was sponsored by NABARD, Dimapur branch, health awareness trainings programs were conducted in collaboration with Catholic Relief Services (CRS), Guwahati as part its SHG promotion program.
Coordinator of SHG (DAN), Pouhimlung David on behalf of Development Association of Nagaland tanked NABARD bank, CRS and the resource persons for their kind support and contribution to the rural people as resource persons.
Khusomi village: Awareness and mobilisation camp for formation of Self Help Group under AHVY scheme at Khusomi village was conducted on March 18.
The camp was organised by Dunyis’ Multi- purpose Society Khusomi village, P.O Chozuba district Phek and sponsored by Government of India, Ministry of Textiles, DC (handicrafts), New Delhi. Resource persons for the training were Assistant Director (handicrafts) Ministry of Textiles (DC) Kohima, Nozol Angami. Chairman of the society Puleso Khusoh has expressed gratitude to sponsor of the awareness camp.
