Preparation for polls

As per direction of Election Commission of India (ECI) for preparation in case of simultaneous poll with by-election, the deputy commissioner and district election officer, Dimapur, has made various preparation and steps to be taken by each presiding officers.
According to a press communiqué issued by the DC, preparation and steps to be taken by the presiding officers included preparing five working copies of E/rolls polling station wise identical minutes every respect and all pages in each working copy of the roll serially numbered from No.1 onwards, first polling officer will be in-charge of marked copy of the electoral roll for both Lok Sabha and election while second polling officer will be in-charge of indelible ink and votes register in form 17 A, third polling officer will be in-charge of voters’ slip for Lok Sabha and pink voters’ slip for assembly election.
The communiqué also stated to use two sets of AVMs for Lok Sabha and assembly elections together and also to use two separate voting compartments including one for Lok Sabha and the other for assembly elections, fourth polling officer in-charge of control unit for Lok Sabha while fifth polling officer would be in-charge of control unit for assembly election.
Meanwhile, preparation of form 17 C-part-I-accounts of votes recorded by presiding officer is to ensure that in simultaneous election, copies of form 17 C for parliamentary election are supplied to polling agents of the candidates in parliamentary constituency only and copies of form 17 C for the assembly election are given only to the agents of candidates of assembly constituency at the close of poll, the communiqué added.
