DIMAPUR: Zila Sainik Welfare Officer, Lt. Col R S Ahluwalia (Rtd) informed all defence Ex- Servicemen pensioners of Dimapur district, who were discharged from service on low medical category but not in receipt of medical pension/disability pension, to report to Zila Sainik Welfare Officer (Sainik Bhawan) Dimapur and register their names at the earliest.

NNC, Lotha region clarifies
DIMAPUR: NNC, Lotha region, president Rabenthung Patton has clarified that a self styled ‘Finance Secretary’ (NNC) Naga Army, Maj. L R Yanthan and speaker (NNC) S Angami has been issuing a notice (Azha) for 5 % trades commission tax for the year 2009 to all business establishments. Therefore public and all listed business establishments have been requested not to pay the tax in any manner as there is no such directive from the central authority to do so. Anybody doing so will be at their own risk.

Puranabazar GBs resolves to form union
DIMAPUR: Puranabazar GBs in a meeting held on May 22 resolved to form GB’s Union at Puranabazar. The house unanimously elected the office bearers for three years tenure headed with GB Niuto Awomi as chairman, GB Marisao Lotha, vice, chairman, GB Pitu Mech as secretary and Vikuto Wotsa as banker. According to Pitu Mech, secretary, GBs Union Puranabazar, East Dimapur, the formation of the union was to have proper co-ordination amongst the village GBs and town GBs and also to assist the district administration in maintaining law and order.
Kutsapo Students’ Union condoles
KOHIMA: Kutsapo Students’ Union (KSU) has expressed condolence over the demise of PE teacher Vezosa, on May 19 at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima. The union recalled that late Vezosa was a dedicated teacher who served at Government Middle School Kutsapo from 1990 to 1993. The union added that his services towards the community would be cherished.

39 Sanis BJP informs
DIMAPUR: In a joint press release issued by working President A C Mozhui, 39 Sanis BJP Mandal, BJP Mandal Yuva Morcha president, Roben Kithan and Sumlano, president, BJP Mandal Mahila stated that the members in an emergency meeting which was held on May 22 at Sanis town, resolved to repose full faith in T L Merry in leading the BJP supporters of 39 Sanis. The release also stated that the members have authorized him to take decision on choosing which party to stay and assured that the party will abide by him. GBs informed
DIMAPUR: Dimapur district GB’s association president M. Y Ngullie and general secretary T. Onen Jamir has directed all GBs under Dimapur sardar to strictly comply with the order issued to all GBs to collect Rs. 20 per GB card for non-locals under their respective colony, village, ward for issuing GB identification card. The release further requested all non-locals t collect the GB identification card from their respective colony, village, and to pay Rs. 20 only per card, and added that if anybody was found charging more than the fixed amount, he would be liable to appropriate action.

Women’s seminar held in Niuland
DIMAPUR: A one-day seminar for women, organized by Nagaland State Women Commission (NSWC) under Niuland sub-division was held at Niuland on May 22 at ADC’s Conference Hall, Niuland. According to an official bulletin, resource persons were Sano Vamuzo, Chairperson NSWC, CDPO, Niuland Toshili, MO, Dimapur Rebecca, Secretary NSWC, Lithrongla Chishi NCS and Lydia Yepthomi, Legal Consultant NSWC. Exhortation was pronounced by ADC Niuland, Anenla Sato, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Abeni TCK, member NSWC and the programme was chaired by Ellen Konyak, member NSWC. About 81 women participated in the programme.
Sao Chang faculty condemns
DIMAPUR: The teaching fraternity of Sao Chang College, Tuensang in a press release condemned the incident where officials of the Nagaland University (NU) were assaulted by four miscreants on April 27. According to the release, the NU officials were on official duty to collect the evaluated answer scripts packets from Loyem and Sao Chang College, Tuensang, when four miscreants in an inebriated state halted the bus and entered. In spite of repeated request from Sao Chang College, vice principal, Chubasangla, who was also travelling with the officials, the miscreants vented their fury on them. Even the police were allegedly slack in handling the incident, along with the crowd who remained mute spectators. Meanwhile, the release also stated that it expected conscientious citizens to denounce such anti-social activities.
