The Ao Theological Association (ATA) had completed 50 years of its mission. To mark its completion a two-day golden jubilee celebration was held at Impur on May 23.
According to an official bulletin, the conference was attended by more than 700 Theologians from different parts of Nagaland and outside. The two day congregation of the Ao Theologians reminisced about its role and also discussed how it could consolidate its role and strengthen universal peace and brotherhood. On the second day Additional Chief Secretary & Development Commissioner, Nagaland, Alemtemshi said Theologians had an important role to bring changes in the society.
He said since churches were important platforms through which changes could be brought into the world, Theologians should be more dedicated in leading the people by giving the right directions in all spheres, so as to escape from clutches that hamper the development of society and mankind. Rev. L. Kari Longchar, Rev. Dr. Wati, and Alongla P. Aier were the main speakers during the Jubilee celebrations. Other speakers at the celebration included Commissioner & Secretary Temjen Toy, President Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang Dr. Mar Pongener and Ao Students Conference, President Bendang Aier.
