W’shop on human rights, globalization concludes

A two day workshop on gender violence, human rights and globalizations for POs (Peoples’ Organizations), CBOs, village level cadres and volunteers for selected villages of Yanmhon and Ralan Area was held at Centre for Community Transformations, Walford, Dimapur from June 10 – 11. According to project co-ordinator, SCENEI-CSD, Bethesda Youth Welfare Centre, Emily Temjen, on the first day, W C Humtsoe, executive director, Bethesda YWC delivered the key note address. During his speech, he stressed on the complexity of the co- relation between socio-economic backwardness to social unrest, poverty and ignorance having serious impact created on the life of the people.
“To combat these social maladies, it can be possible if only we manage to acquire proper education, instills correct attitudes, rediscover the work culture and changed the mindsets of the people” he said, and added “…these changes can not be done forcefully and only willing minds can bring a positive revolution”.
Jacob Yanthan, SDAO (Store), Dimapur also shared with the villagers on the importance of organic farming. He encouraged the participants to work harder in their fields with maximum utilization of the technical expertise provided by the Departments and further welcome them to try on the improved seedling provided from the agri departments which would eventually increase production of the crops in many ways.
Mirinjan and M. Kalanjoy Singh from the SCENEI/CSD, Imphal, Chumthungo and Emily Temjen from BYWCD were the resource persons for the workshop.
Altogether 25 people representing 9 villages participated at the workshop.
