The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has welcomed the historic Covenant of Reconciliation jointly signed by premiers of NSCN (IM), GPRN/NSCN and FGN (Non-Accordist), on behalf of Naga people at Chiang Mai, Thailand.
NPCC expressed hope that reconciliation would be a fulfillment of the long aspiration of Naga people for a unified approach towards realizing common goal. The Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) deserve not only congratulations but our utmost support for strengthening the ongoing process of reconciliation and forgiveness with all other Naga groups, stated the NPCC in a press release issued by vice president Zacilh Vadeo.
NPCC stated the collective negotiation for a solution had been the political agenda of NPCC and “as a matter of fact since ceasefire was brought about in 1997 and 2001 both during the time of Congress ministries in the State and the Centre. That this principle is now duly recognized and adopted by the factions is indeed a big leap taken drawing us closer to our common purpose.”
Further, NPCC has called for active participation of every section of Naga community before any ‘final touch’ was given because every segment was vitally important. While fully supporting the Covenant of Reconciliation, NPCC appealed the NNC as a whole, including the FGN (Accordist) to endorse upon what the people had largely appreciated it as a major breakthrough in the process of reconciliation.
