Village Health Committee Phenta (Tsokeda) village under Tseminyu Sub-Division conducted a seminar on village health and nutrition on June 21.
According to an official bulletin, resource person, Dr. Teninlo Jamu SMO CHC Tseminyu while speaking on malaria, typhoid and jaundice; their causes, prevention and consequences, cautioned that Tseminyu Sub-Division has experienced malaria related deaths and therefore the communities should maintain their local sewage system properly and prevent any stagnation of water in their surrounding which might facilitate mosquito breeding. Speaking on Mother and Child Care, he advised the mothers to get free medical facilities provided by the government through the Community Health Centres and PHCs besides enlightening expectant mothers on availability of financial assistance during child birth at health centers. While speaking on Child Immunization and Vaccination, he stated that proper and timely vaccination and immunization of new born babies and children below 5 years could ensure a healthy life and save them from different crippling diseases like polio, TB, measles, diphtheria, tetanus etc. The programme was chaired by Chairman VHC, Athonlo Kent and attended by ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and medical personnel besides village communities. Further, village council chairman, Daniel Kent expressed gratitude to medical Department for conducting the seminar for the village.
