Preparations on for I-Day celebration in Dimapur

To celebrate the forthcoming 62nd Indian Independence Day on August 15, Dimapur district administration conducted a meeting on Thursday at DC’s Conference Hall with all heads of offices, police and central paramilitary forces, DMC and Dimapur GBs association and chalked out various programmes, besides assigning work distribution to respective departments.
Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Maongwati Aier who chaired the meeting said it was mandatory for all government servants to attend the forthcoming Independence Day celebration and also directed the respective officers to hoist the Indian National Flag in their respective offices to commemorate the celebration. It was also decided that march pass contingents would include DEF, CRPF, Home Guards, Assam Rifles, NCC Boys, NCC Girls, NCC Air Wing, Bharat Scouts & Guides, two contingents each from schools and colleges, senior Red Cross and Ex-serviceman.
According to an official bulletin, highlights of the day would include exhibition stalls from DRDA/Dimul and arms display by AR Contingents. Besides cultural programmes, demonstration of emergency search & rescue operation during disaster from Home Guards personnel- Central Training Institute Toluvi, dog show/ Bike show – 3 Corps Rangapahar, Free cinema shows at Hill star, Eros and Friends Cinema Halls. The programme would culminate with football exhibition match between Dimapur Veterans and Kohima veterans. The DC also directed that practice of march past would commence from August 7 and all works must be completed before August 14.
