Public of Khaghaboto area have appealed to department of Irrigation and Flood Control and department of Fisheries to grant relief materials to the drought hit farmers.
According to a press release by Khaghaboto Area GBs’ Association Chairman, Jacob Zhimomi, Khaghaboto area has been greatly affected by drought like situation due to delay of monsoons and public who are mostly dependent on agriculture have not been able to grow crops this year as the irrigation canals and ponds have dried out leaving no means for farmers to cultivate their fields.
Stating that situation was worsening day by day, the Association has requested timely intervention of department of Irrigation and Flood Control to help by way of providing relief to people of the area.
Also drawing the attention of department of Fisheries, the Association stated that fishery is one of the most important means of income for people of Khaghaboto area and the dry spell this year has completely dried out every single fish pond in Khaghaboto area. The Association has appealed to department of Fisheries to extend relief to fish farmers in Khaghaboto area.
