Child lifter arrested

Close on the heels after the Prodigals Home report, that 280 persons below 18 years were missing from the state since January 2007, Diphupar police personnel, on Thursday, around 3 pm, arrested one child lifter when he attempted to sell a three- year old girl to a family.
According to police sources, the accused, Sajid Ali (20) of Diphupar ‘B’ had lured then kidnapped his neighbor’s three year-old daughter, identified as Sajida Begum from her residence. The accused then tried to sell the girl off to a family who insisted on meeting the child’s guardian with a written agreement. However, after leaving the girl in their custody, the accused left, promising that he would bring the girl’s guardian along with the necessary documents by 2 pm. However, Ali never showed up.
On a complaint by the child’s parent Diphupar police arrested the accused from Diphupar ‘B’ .
