Tizit Tea Farmers’ Union (TTFU) has lamented on the subsidies being deprived despite guarantees by the Tea Board of India (TBI) to grant subsidies for promoting quality, quantity and scientific methods for propagation of tea since 1996.
A joint release issued by TTFU president Honlem Konyak and secretary Ahon Konyak said that although all formalities and procedures have been followed farmers were still in the dark and have not received any subsidies.
The Union also expressed wonder to the appointment of MK John as president of Nagaland Tea growers for Mon district without any intimation to the union and felt that this was another move to deny subsidies.
Tizit Tea Farmers’ Union (TTFU) further urged the responsible authorities to revoke the decision immediately and empower the local union for duties in the area.
Tizit Tea Farmers’ Union (TTFU) said that if a person was to be chosen to represent the government departments or an NGO it must be done through the union in order to avoid further complications.
