Three persons were killed and an ex-MLA grievously injured when the Tata Mobile bearing registration number NL- 03-A-1249 with four occupants plunged into the Zungki River in Noklak area under Tuensang district on Saturday at around 7 p.m. The ex-MLA, Pongon was rushed to the Civil Hospital Noklak in a critical condition. According to police sources, the victims were returning from Nukhu village after purchasing a Mithun when the Tata mobile in which they were traveling rolled down some 200 feet below the road before reaching Noklak town.
The three deceased were identified as Niloto Sumi, (driver) son of Late Kivikhe Sema of Khetoi village, Inoka Chishi, son of Rev. Luvito Chishi of Lotisami village and Kheno Khiam of Sanglao village. Police said the bodies were recovered only the next morning as no one knew about the accident.
On receiving information, the police, district administration, NGOs and public of Noklak went to the spot and brought the bodies to the police station. The bodies were then handed over to their respective families after completing the necessary formalities.
Sumi Hoho condoles
Expressing shock to have learnt about the accident, the Sumi Hoho has conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed souls to rest in peace their strength to overcome grief. It also prayed for the speedy recovery of Pongon who is now undergoing treatment. Sumi Hoho president in a statement thanked the various organizations, district administration, public etc for their help and support during the “unfortunate incident.”
