Nagaland has no rainfall data

March 9, 2010 | by admin

Even after 47 years of statehood, Nagaland reportedly doesn’t have proper rainfall data which remains a hindrance on various occasions in the hunt for development funds. State urban development department had submitted a detail project report (DPR) to centre for protection of streams and drainage to prevent landslide particularly in state capital under JNNURM scheme. However, due to the absence of rainfall data, sanction to the project was delayed so far. The state government reportedly managed to get the rainfall data of Jorhat and urged Centre to take the data which although is suspected to be much below Nagaland. The centre, however, has managed to get hold of Manipur rainfall data which is even lower than Jorhat data and is trying to accept the data for Nagaland as well.
