Training on medicinal plants held in Peren

One-day awareness, training and capacity building programme on sustainable development of medicinal plant was organized by forest department on March 18 at Old Jalukie village, Peren district.
Local herbalists Dr. Rev. Fr. Godfrey, director, Holistic Healing Centre Jalukie and Along from Ngawlwa Healing Centre deliberated on uses and methods of preparation of traditional herbal medicines from the plants found in the district.
Research officers from FRLTH Bangalore and Research Scholars from Nagaland University interacted with the villagers and carried out botanical survey of medicinal plant conservation area for identification and documentation.
Besides departmental officials, about 60 participants from six villages including Old Jalukie (Upper) village, Old Jalukie (Lower) village, Pelekie village, Deukwaram village, Ngawlwa village and Gaili village attended the programme.
The programme was chaired by Rampaukai, Range Officer Jalukie, and T.Lotha IFS, Conservator of Forests and M. Obed ACF, spoke on the importance of conservation and cultivation of medicinal plants.
