Radios provided to1700 ASHAs

With an aim to disseminate news on health service and encourage public to avail services provided especially in the rural set up through radio, National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) presented radio sets to every Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHAs) in Nagaland.
The programme was officially launched by Padmashree Neidonuo, on the April 28 at the Chapel Hall, Dimapur District Hospital.
Neithonuo, who is also a member of ASHA Mentoring Group (AMG) both at the National & State level said, the radio sets were given to every ASHAs so that they tune-in to NRHM radio programme which was broadcasted every Saturday evening.
The radio programme disseminates information on health issues and topics discussed in the radio health programmes would not only benefit ASHAs but also the people in general. Radio being the best means of communication in the rural set-up in the State, NRHM distributed radio sets to all the 1700 ASHAs in the State.Mission Director, NRHM, T. Limsong, who chaired the programme, while interacting with the ASHAs, encouraged them to let the villagers know their presence felt in the village through their participation and stated that their role is important especially when outsiders visit their areas.
