One-day training on banana fibre extraction organized by CIH, Medziphema in collaboration with Maple Society, Chumukedima, was held on May 29 at CTC, Hall, Chumukedima. A brief opening remark about aims and objectives of CIH and training programme was given by Dr. Akali Sema, Director, CIH, Medziphema. She remarked that training on Banana fibre extraction has been much in demand by the people and evoked a lot of interest as an enterprise among banana grower of the state.
As a resource person, Dr. Akali spoke on importance and uses of banana fibre and its production as a means of self-employment avenue. Khekali Sema, SMS, KVK, Kohima deliberated on the importance of selecting raw materials for fibre extraction and tips for quality fibre production. Practical demonstration of banana fibre extraction manually and by mechanical means was carried out by Arvind Singh, Tech. Consultant, CIH, Medziphema. Altogether 126 participants from different SHG’s, clubs, CBO’s, individuals including drop out youth attended the training
