Training on tree borne oilseed

Department of agriculture, Baghty conducted a farmers training on tree borne oilseed on June 15 at Mesangphen. Resource person of the training, SDAO Baghty, L. Mhao Lotha apprised participants on packages and practices of tree borne oilseed.
He also explained about cultivating on cultivable wasteland, roadside poor soil and degraded land, jhum fallows and erosion-prone watershed areas, hedge plantations etc. The SDAO also stressed on beneficial effect of Jatropha, such as leaves used for muscle ailments, rheumatic pains, treat snake bites, insecticides and also for production of bio-diesel, plastic candles, varnish and lubricant oil. A total of 48 farmers attended the training.
