Wangyuh supports Cong on MNREGA

July 7, 2010 | by admin

Coming out in support of the questions raised by the NPCC on the implementation of the MNREGA and the VIP quota in the central scheme, former Lok Sabha MP, W. Wangyuh Konyak has sought clarification from the state government to explain to the people as demanded by the Congress. Wangyuh in a statement explained how the MNREGA first came into being as NREGA in 2005 and the nomenclature was changed to the present form in 2010. He wanted to know from the government whether there was any section under MNREGA to keep VIP’s quota as given: ministers – 20%, parliamentary secretaries – 30 % and MLAs – 50%. If DAN government was practicing this formula, the former MP asked the government to explain under which section and clause of the Act was it being followed. He also asked if the DAN government was aware that BDOs were facing problems in preparing Muster Roll in order to regularize “your open (government) corrupted/pocket money.” Wangyuh wanted the government to clarify whether it has issued Job Card under “VIP’s quota” and if the District Schedule of Rates (DSR) in all the districts was implemented. He further asked whether the government had appointed programme officers under section 2.2.2 with full necessary staff. The former MP demanded to know how many NGOs and SHGs were appointed or allowed to participate in Implementing Agencies. He also asked whether the reports that the BDOs were delivering cash money to the VIPs at their doorsteps were a fact.
