School children trained on malnutrition by KVK Dimapur

One day training programme was conducted by KVK Dimapur on September 10 on awareness cum training on malnutrition and kitchen gardening at SFS School, Medziphema.
Training programme on kitchen gardening was conducted by Dr. Anamika Sharma, programme co-ordinator, H. D. Singh, SMS (horticulture) and V. Kenney, SMS (home science) KVK, Dimapur.
About hundred and twenty-five students of Class VIII attended the training.
The programme included the importance of food in one’s diet, nutritive value of different fruits and vegetables, malnutrition, deficiency symptoms of vitamins and minerals and the rich sources to supplement diet and importance of kitchen garden, layout, designing of a kitchen garden, crop allocation in the garden.
A small piece of land was selected for development of kitchen garden in the SFS campus.
A group of students also voluntarily came forward to participate in development of kitchen garden.
Father Roy, Principal SFS School, Medziphema and other staff members also assisted in conducting the programme and appreciated the efforts of KVK Dimapur on behalf of SFS, Medziphema.
With initiation of this training, a small kitchen garden will be developed in the campus of SFS School, Medziphema which is a participatory approach with the students to get fresh fruits and vegetables to minimize the malnutrition.
