Department of fisheries organized a two-day training on value addition of fish products for Women Self Help Groups (SHGs) in commemoration of “Year of Entrepreneur” 2010.
Interacting with the media, department officials said it was the department’s new venture and added that the objective of the training was to increase the value of fish and to maximise the usage of fish.
Department officials also said they had earlier focused on rearing of fishes and at present venturing into a new field which they hoped would be fruitful.
The training was attended by more around 40 participants mostly women that included SHG members, house wives and member from Ladies Club, Mokokchung.
On being asked about the response from the participants, the officials said the response was satisfactory, especially the outcome of the training.
The two day training included teaching the participants in preparing fish pickle, fish cutlet, and fish fingers.
