AR recovers liquor along NH-39

Mobile Vehicle Check Post of 20 Assam Rifles under HQ 5 Sector of IGAR (N) on NH-39 at Piphema intercepted a speeding truck (709 Ex Turbo) Registered No NL-07A 3666 on December 14 at 2am which despite being signaled to halt, jumped the check post and fled towards Lalmati. After a pursuit of 3 kms, the troops of Assam Rifles managed to stop the vehicle and apprehended the driver of the truck while he was trying to flee under the cover of darkness and foliage, stated a defence release. 505 cases of illegal liquor were seized which included 160 cases of Beer Tuborg Strong, 74 cases of White Magic Gin, eight cases of Bagpiper Whisky, 40 cases of Kingfisher canned Beer, 26 cases of Mc Dowell’s Whisky, 46 Cases of Mc Dowell’s rum, 31 cases of Foster’s canned beer and 20 cases of Radiant Rum costing approximately `8.35 lakhs. Subsequently, the driver and recovered consignment was handed over to Police Station, Medziphema.
