Four armed miscreants were arrested by personnel from north police station Kohima in connection with cases of kidnap and forgery.
The arrested four included Duotsolie Mets alias David alias Double-Voice from Gariphema Village and Wangshikokba Walling alias Akok from Khar village, both residents of Lower Bayavü; and “Sergeant” Vizotuolie Mere alias Avizo from Chiechama village and “sergeant” Rovingulie Shaleo alias Rovi from Tsiepama village, both residents of Peace Camp, Chedema.
According to police source, the arrested four including two others who were still absconding kidnapped a government vehicle driver on November 26, 2010, and transacted cash of Rs. 1,60,000 from his account by means of forgery. Masterminded by Duotsolie Mets who was helping the victim with bank loan procedures, the miscreants on the morning of November 26 tried to kidnap the victim from his resident at Bayavü but without success due to some miscommunication. However, having known that the victim was to transact his loan from the bank the same morning, the miscreants later kidnapped him at gun point near Congress Bhavan around 9:30 am and took him blindfolded in a local taxi below Mewi School Kohima. After taking the Bank passbook, cheque and some cash from his wallet, Duotsolie forged the victim’s signature and along with Wangshikokba, drew the amount from the victim’s bank account around midday. The victim, who was later released, filed an FIR on November 27, 2010.
It may be mentioned that “Sergeant” Vizotuolie Mere alias Avizo and “sergeant” Rovingulie Shaleo alias Rovi were arrested Thursday last also in connection with a highway robbery case. While investigation the kidnapping and forgery case, police also nabbed the other two.
