RTE seminar held at Kiphire

Seminar on Right to Education (RTE) was organized by DIET Pfutsero on Thursday at Hopongkyu Memorial hall Kiphire with Vipralhou Kesiezier, director SCERT and Zavise Rume, lecturer DIET as resource persons.
Speaking on the topic ‘Implementation of Right to education act 2009’, director SCERT said “RTE is one of the fundamental rights and needs to be implemented in letter and spirit”.
He also said no society has seen progress without education, adding education is the only means to transform and reform the society where children from the age group of 6 to 14 should get compulsory elementary education.
Answering to queries raised by the participants, the director said “Government is sincere in establishing DIET institute in Kiphire and Longleng” so that there will no problem for requisite qualified teachers.
The director also stated the initial stage of RTE act may be difficult, but was hopeful that as time passes by, things will finally fall into place.
Welcoming the gathering, principal DIET Pfutsero, Bano Vinito said education was the only basic thing of the hour in the fast moving world, adding the quality education of a child would determine the progress of a society.
She also called upon participating education communities to wake up and work for the welfare of student’s community. In the evening session, Zavise Rume, lecturer DIET spoke on ‘Community participation in the context of RTE 2009’.
The program was chaired by N. Imnatula Aier, DEO Kiphire and vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Yanthan, lecturer DIET Pfutsero.
