Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has appreciated the chief minister and the state government for asserting to uphold Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition Act in the floor of the Assembly on March 24. NBCC said though the law was enacted 22 years back in 1989, successive governments did not enforce the law effectively, since there was no political will on the part of the government. Instead, the government had attempted to lift the Prohibition Act several times in the past, it stated. NBCC, however, said that wisdom has prevailed upon the Naga political leaders to take firm decision to enforce the Prohibition Act. It appreciated such positive action to safeguard people from the destruction of the alcoholism. NBCC assured its fullest support towards the government efforts to eradicate evils of alcohol from society.
