KIPHIRE, APR 7 (NPN): United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) officials on April 5 and 6 inspected Govt. High School (GHS) Kiphire and found many high students loitering in the town during school hours, coupled with irregular teachers. USSC also learnt that the oldest government school established way back in 1952 was lying untouched by the department such as school infrastructure, furniture, building, fence, school gate, water supply, electrification and toilet facilities.
USSC held a meeting with the teaching staff and students separately in order to hear their grievances. During a meeting with students, some of the students blamed teachers for inefficiently performing their duty as a teacher. USSC also wrote a separate letter addressed to director of school education, Kohima seeking immediate redressal taking note of the meetings pertaining to functioning of educational institutions.
While conducting a surprise visit to GMS Kiphire on April 5, it detected various loopsholes, and found the school was running without an assistant headmaster with computers and generators lying unused for the last 3 years due to non-appointment of computer teacher. It therefore urged the authority in-charge to look in to the matter for the welfare of students.
