GEF-UNDP Mon in its effort to create responsiveness among the rural masses on sustainable land management system organized an awareness programme on sustainable land and ecosystem management (SLEM) at Yanpan and Shanga and Lapa on May 4 and 5.
Resource persons, Khekihe Zhimo, DPSO and R.K. Amos DPSA, UNDP Mon stressed on the present Jhum practices, community based organization participation in resources management, sustainability of land use pattern and management of ecosystem and also highlighted on global warming and climate change. Participants included VC, VDBs, women SHG, student, farmers and village elders.
UNDP Mon officials, also highlighted the aims and objectives of the project ‘SLEM in shifting cultivation area of Nagaland for ecological and livelihood security’ which was current implemented by GEF-UNDP in the district.
