Education and communication department of Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) along with Kids Worship Center Dimapur conducted a children’s music festival from July 5- 7 at Dimapur Sumi Baptist Church. Altogether 11 associations from all over Nagaland participated in the festival. The festival was highlighted by workshops from renowned musicians of Nagaland with competitions in piano recital, solo, drums solo, violin, classic guitar and choir competition. Speaking to this reporter, an NBCC official said the main purpose of the festival was to create a platform for the talented and gifted children. She said Nagaland has been blessed with many talented children, but lamented lack of platform as the reason behind children remaining confined them to their homes. “We want to create awareness and encourage children so that their talent does not go wasted” she added. While revealing the congregation was blessed and amazed by the performance of the children, she thanked the participants specially participants from SBAK, Sangtam association and Zeme association as they brought children from every district to participate in the festival. She also thanked the parents for supporting the children and child ministry, adding the department would continue to organize such programs even in future. Winners of various competitions also performed at the closing ceremony. Winners of the competition for different categories are, violin: first Bagmei Clasisa, second Ketiyava Imchen, third Therhuseto Nakhro, fourth Shouthungo Ovung; keyboard: first Ruguoser Liegise, second Doreen Aier and Lihzu Shiney, third Damchuilung Kolmei; drum solo: first Nikito A. Swu, second Peletso Khale, third Ashwin Abraham; classical guitar: first Vikhehelie Nakhro, second Bokivi, third Okuliba; solo: first Cateü Chiero, second Pelelhonuo, third Kalino; indigenous: first WSBAK, second SBAK and children choir: first ZBCC, second Sangtam Town Baptist Church (STBC) Tuensang.
