The Nagaland Doctors’ Association (NDA) Thursday expressed serious concern over the prevailing condition whereby the Christian Institute of Health Sciences & Research (CIHSR) Dimapur is being threatened by flood owing to the changing course of nearby Chathe river.
Asserting that CIHSR was an asset for the Nagas as it was expected to become the only medical college in the state soon, NDA president Dr. H. Hotoku Chishi appealed the department of health & family welfare to provide maximum support to protect the CIHSR.
“If we go on waiting, everything will go so the state government should take up immediate embankment measures at the CIHSR,” the statement said. The association maintained that Nagas had invested their time and energy and cannot afford calamities such as floods to destroy the investment. While lamenting that strong preventive and protective structure should have been set up earlier, NDA further expressed apprehension if serious action was not taken soon, the only premier institution in the state would not stand as it did at present.
Meanwhile, NDA has thanked the department of Irrigation & Flood Control for assuring to take up measures to prevent the fast eroding CIHSR complex due to the change in the course of the nearby Chathe river.
