Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce and Industries (MCCI) has condemned the “step motherly treatment” meted out to the entrepreneurs of Mokokchung by the Department of Industries and Commerce (DIC) Dimapur.
According to MCCI, altogether 100 aspiring entrepreneurs were selected from Mokokchung under the state government’s ‘Year of Entrepreneurs’ to undergo training at Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati where 70 entrepreneurs were sent batch-wise to IIE Guwahati in June, and the remaining 30 during the last week of June.
However MCCI alleged that on July 16, entrepreneurs were informed by DIC office to collect their tickets and report to its general manager on July 17 before notifying IIE Guwahati the following day, failing which it said their selection will be cancelled.
Amidst this confusion, DIC blamed the MCCI for the informing the entrepreneurs at the eleventh hour, stated MCCI and failed to comprehend as to why the MCCI was held responsible when in reality the department failed to issue any prior information to the entrepreneurs as it was as done with the previous batch.
