DAN legislators reaffirmed to back the cabinet decision for suspension of the recent notification on the retention of teachers and to go for a thorough review. The decision of the DAN legislators or in reality, all NPF legislators, was made at the consultative meeting convened here to deliberate extensively on the issue.
The consultative meeting according to sources, also decided to go for thorough review and verification post-wise and district-wise for cases where those suspected bogus teachers, absentees, doubtful and teachers whose appointment were obtained through forged signature. It was also learnt that the meeting also agreed to review the posting of particularly the primary school teachers of one tribe to a school of another tribe, in view of the language barrier and also for consideration of promotion or posting those graduates and post graduates teachers depending on their qualifications.
Several legislators who spoke at the consultative meet had reportedly vented out their oppositions to the recent School Education (SE) department notification. Chief minister Neiphiu Rio also gave the concluding speech and made the assurance that the government would stick by the cabinet decision and go for a thorough review.
Both the department of SE and Vigilance Commission had reportedly explained their respective positions and status on the issue at the meeting. Chief Secretary Lalthara was also present at the meeting.
