July 31, 2011 | by admin

The GPRN/NSCN Sumi Region meeting held a meeting at Zunheboto town on July 29 where 73 regional national workers and official delegates from the centre attended.
The meeting unanimously resolved to strengthen the leadership of NSCN chairman general Khole Konyak and general secretary N Kitovi Zhimomi as Indo-Naga political issue would “sooner or later” be determined by the two leaders in consultation with the Naga people.
The national workers also resolved to appeal to Sumi frontal organisation and general public to abide by January 15, 2008 resolution adopted by Sumi people pledging support to GPRN/NSCN as it was genuinely striving to bring all Nagas together.
A press release issued by caretaker chairman, Sumi region, GPRN/NSCN Khawoto Chishi stated the meeting resolved to maintain peace in the region, adding Sumi national workers and the Naga Army would be prepared to confront “certain elements” violating the peaceful atmosphere.
The meeting also pointed out aggression of “these elements” on the morning of July 29 where “Tatar” Huvito Yeptho, former Sumi region Chairman and his bodyguards, while visiting his family at Alahuto colony were accosted by armed man numbering around 10.
The caretaker chairman stated that situation was about to go out of hand but the armed men backed off sensing the  former chairman bodyguards were prepared to confront.
The meeting resolved to encourage Sumi Frontal organisations to continue to play a pro-active role and control the “gun-toting elements” at Zunheboto town as any recurrence of violence in Sumi region would escalate and “Sumi people would be the greatest losers”.
