Appeal to CM on 3rd NAP deployment

Tribal unions and student bodies of 3rd NAP Sector, Tuensang have appealed to the state chief minister to consider some of their demands with regard to purported reports of deployment of 3rd NAP Battalion to Delhi. In a joint statement, the NAP sector, Tuensang Chang union, Chang students’ union, Sangtam union, Sangtam students’ union, Yimchunger union, Yimchunger students’ union and Khiamniungan union demanded that shifting of NAP jawans from 3rd Bn should not consist more than 50% of the total personnel.
They also demanded that transfer should be made on deputation basis only and not permanent.
The bodies said their demands were based on “volatile situation” in Tuensang “due to frequent law and order problems.”
Also, stating that shifting of 3rd NAP Bn to Delhi would severely affect the educational prospect of many of children vis-à-vis along with a host of other socio-economic problems, the unions requested chief minister to “look into our concerns sympathetically.”
The signatories included NAP sector’s Chang union president Berimong Chang and Chang students’ union president Somba Chang; Sangtam union president Thepongse Sangtam and Sangtam students’ union vice president Tsalito Sangtam; Yimchunger union vice president Yanloba Yim and Yimchunger students’ union advisor P.Chuba Yim and Khiamniungan union president Khamo Khiam.
