Two extortionists were nabbed by the public and Diphupar police while they were demanding money from a vegetable seller at 5th mile, Dimapur Monday.
Police said the two identified as one Khalong Amer (25) of Changki village and Inato Kiho (19) of Satsami village, Zunheboto, both residents of 5th mile Dimapur, were demanding money “under threat and intimidation” from of a vegetable seller, when public of the area rushed to the spot to rescue the victim on hearing gun shot.
Seeing the public Inato managed to flee while Khalong, who opened fire, was overpowered by the mob and handed over to Diphupar police. Later, Diphupar police personnel on the revelation by Khalong arrested Inato, police said. One .22 pistol (country made) with five rounds of ammunition and an empty cartridge was recovered.
