Despite a series of meetings on the issue of bogus teachers, the cabinet has yet to finally decide on how to deal with the problem after it had to keep in abeyance its earlier decision on reappointment of those who were categorized as qualified.
The state cabinet at its meeting Thursday afternoon at the chief ministers residential office, discussed the issue of the verification, re-verification and re-appointment of bogus, doubtful appointments and absentee teachers of the School Education department but failed to come to any concrete decision, confided a minister to this Correspondent.
Earlier on Wednesday, the cabinet had discussed the issue but could not take any decision.
Mention may be made that after unearthing teachers appointment scam in the School Education department, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Vigilance which was constituted to probe into the matter detected several doubtful appointment orders, fake certificates and absentees who did not present themselves for verification.
After the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Vigilance submitted its initial reports, excluding those under ‘Absentee’ category, the state government had constituted the State Verification Committee (SVC) and District Verification Committee (DVC) of the School Education department which were set up to verify 1084 teachers under ‘Absentee’ category.
Bowing to pressure, the state government decided to re-appoint those with qualifications. The School Education department then released lists of teachers for re-appointment.
However, following hue and cry from almost every tribal student bodies, the state cabinet had recently decided to keep in abeyance the re-appointment and go for further verification.
Meanwhile, it was also learnt that the state cabinet also discussed and approved on the Governor’s speech for the forthcoming Independence Day and also distributed the works.
On the other hand, the cabinet also worked out and approved the lists of VIPs for attending the Independence Day programmes to be celebrated throughout the state.
