1 shot dead in Dimapur

A youth was shot dead by unidentified gunman at Super market, Mokokchung counter area, here Saturday afternoon. The deceased identified as Chumthing a.k.a. Seopi Sangtam (30), son of Yotsase Sangtam, hailed from Phirahir village, Tuensang.
According to relatives late Seopi was innocent and had arrived Dimapur from Kohima only on Friday to look for a job. Meanwhile, sources said the deceased had previously served as store keeper at ITI, Kohima on contract basis.
S.P Dimapur, Z. Mero told this reporter that the deceased was shot by one gunman from behind while he was playing cards with friends in the room. The bullet pierced through the center of his chest.
Police said relatives did not want a post mortem conducted on the body. Empty shell of a 9mm was recovered at the crime spot. A case has been registered with East PS and investigation on to nab the culprit(s), police said.
