Poumai Naotumai Me Kohima (PNMK), the apex body of Poumai Women Union Kohima observed its ‘Raising Day’ at Poumai Baptist Church Midland on Saturday.
Resource persons were Naomi Sosii, PBCK women secretary, Soudane, warden TCGH, Veronica Buni, PNMK speaker and Sani Thekho, vice principal Modern College Kohima. The theme of the programme was “Women and cleanliness”.
Speaking at the programme, Veronica said, as Christian woman, one should live a clean and exemplary life like Mary, the mother of Jesus who lived a holy life.
On the other hand, she cited an example of Delilah, wife of Samson as an unfaithful woman who betrayed her husband, and urged Poumai women to be faithful and dutiful in their assigned task.
Sani Thekho spoke on the necessity of cleanliness both physically and spiritually. She said a woman should be a home maker and a keeper, decent and modest in their dressing as it reflects their inner being. She said physical cleanliness not only gives outer appeal but also prevents many common diseases.
Around one hundred mothers attended the programme from Kohima.
The programme was led by Jane, Khane, chairperson, Poumai Baptist Women Society pronounced the opening prayer.
Special song was presented by Poumai Catholic Church women society and Women Society of Poumai Baptist Church Kohima.
Shangla, president, PNMK shared some health care tips and also announced details for the forthcoming programme of the union.
