Aggrieved B. Ed candidates whose result was declared last week have expressed shock after discovering some of them failed by a margin of 1-2 marks.
According to the aggrieved candidates, unlike previous year where moderation up to 5 marks was done as per university rule, some of the candidates failed because moderation of marks was not followed which they said was against university rule.
A press release issued by, aggrieved candidates Vechikhoyi Lohe, Sadem, Lima and Imli stated that when the deputy registrar (exam) was asked as to why moderation was not carried out, the latter replied that external marks of the B .Ed students were not fit for moderation.
Aggrieved candidates while pointing out some anomalies in the mark-sheets, said some of the candidates who were declared failed, discovered they had actually passed after the mark-sheet was issued.
In some mark-sheets, the students said, registration number as well as the signature of deputy registrar (exam) was found missing and the over all marks wrongly calculated and entered in the mark-sheet. Another anomaly detected was exceeding of full marks allotted for field based experience practical work, said the students, adding a candidate scored 90 marks in practical when the full mark was 75.
Taking this into account, aggrieved candidates said they would be sending a representation to acting vice chancellor NU Prof. Chauhan to convene an academic council meeting. Candidates also appealed to acting vice chancellor to look into their grievance at the earliest.
A total of 284 candidates from Nagaland College of Teachers Education, Bosco College of Teachers’ Education and Salt Christian College who appeared for the examination in December 2, 2010. Out of the total number of candidates appeared for the exam, 100 candidates failed, said the candidates.
