Stating that existence of designated camps in Zunheboto “has threatened the congenial and peaceful environment”, the Sumi Hoho at a general public session held on August 9 at Zunheboto unanimously resolved to “strongly urge” responsible authority to remove/withdraw designated camps within Zunheboto district.
A statement issued by Sumi Hoho president H. Hesso and general secretary Toniho Yepthomi said in view of the extension of ceasefire by government of India to all the warring groups, the existence of the designated camps in Zunheboto has threatened the congenial and peaceful environment.
A resolution was made based on the declaration of Sumi inhabited areas as “peace zone” on July 15, 2008 during public rally, and subsequent unanimous reiteration and reaffirmation of the stand by the Sumi general session on July 7, 2011. Appreciating all the warring groups who have expressed their desire to uphold/adhere the Covenant of Reconciliation (CoR), Sumi Hoho said it shall also venture for “an amicable parley for its logical conclusion.” Sumi Hoho also said that contribution (tax), in any form, shall be kept in abeyance.
