‘Remembering Elvis’, a celebration in honour of the King of Rock & Roll, Elvis Presley is being slated at Cosmos Entertainment Hall on August 17.
Initiated by the Hunting Boots Inc. (HBI) in collaboration with Cosmos Hall Management, the evening will be a celebration and a tribute to Elvis.
Addressing a press conference at the Cosmos Hall Lounge on Tuesday, members of HBI disclosed that the evening ‘Remembering Elvis’ would not be just a mere remembrance program but an effort to keep the heritage at Mokokchung in their own (HBI) way.
By doing so, the organizers felt they would be contributing something to the music scenario of Mokokchung.
It is to be noted here that this is the 6th programme organized by the HBI to honor the music legend in the month of August every year.
Though Elvis’ music is not popular among today’s generation, HBI felt they (youth) must try and learn the roots of music and how music started.
HBI also disclosed that they were trying to make Mokokchung ‘The Mecca of Elvis’ and that effort were on to create Elvis Presley Fan Club in Mokokchung.
The evening will witness a number of Elvis’ fans performing popular numbers, besides some unusual and obscure songs of Elvis.
The evening will be graced by Dr. Nicky Kire Advisor MTF as the chief guest wherein the chief guest is also expected to perform at the program along with his family members.
Other renowned local artistes like Longriwati of Squadron, former Naga Idol contestants and present Naga Idol winner, Renbeni Odyuo, members of Seasonal Club, members of Mokokchung District Art and Culture Council (MDACC) and HBI are likely to perform in the event.
A choir “Graceland Harmony” named after Elvis’ home will do the backing.
The host and hostess for the evening will be Philip Imti and Tutu Longkumer.
Entry to the event would be on invitation only, said the organizers.
Meanwhile, proprietors of Cosmos Hall Management at the press meet said organizing such an event was an honour and a way of realizing their dreams.
Renbeni Odyuo, Naga Idol 2010 who was also present at the press conference affirmed that it was always a pleasure to come to Mokokchung and was glad to be a part of the event.
She also said the evening ‘Remembering Elvis’ will definitely be an evening to look forward to.
Commenting on the event, the Naga Idol winner said it was like bringing Elvis back to life and further suggested the HBI to start an ‘Elvis Carnival’.
