Acting on a tip-off that smuggling of restricted drugs is being carried out in various pockets in Dimapur, police personnel raided a medicine store located at Holy Cross junction and seized huge quantity of restricted drugs on Tuesday.
In the process, police arrested one person identified as Rinku Debnath son of Upendra Debnath from Rajnagar Laxmipur, Tripura and a resident of Sematilla, Dimapur. The seized drugs included; 115200 capsules of Spoxyvon, 14,100 bottles of Leerex (cough syrup) and 800 bottles of R-cof (cough syrup). A case under drugs and cosmetics act and under relevant section of IPC was registered against the arrested person.
One arrested with arms
Troops of 24 Assam Rifles while conducting MVCP at Dhobinalla on Tuesday apprehended one person for possessing arms. The arrested person was identified as Chun Thanlung aka Chun Gangmei (24) son of Gaibi, reportedly “ss” office assistant of NSCN (I-M) and a resident of Nagagoan, Signal Basti. One 7.65mm pistol with three live rounds of ammunition was recovered from his possession.
