Indefinite bandh along Wokha-Merapani road called by Kyong Hoho, Wokha went off peacefully Wednesday. However, according to official report, one house belonging to a Muslim at Marachu, Merapani was torched by some unknown miscreants.
The indefinite bandh was called by Kyong Hoho starting from August 17, in protest against the assault of some Lotha boys by acquaintances of one 40-year old Habib Ali from Assam whose dead body was found between Sunglup and Lakhuti on August 14.

When asked, SP Wokha confirmed over phone that a house was burnt down, but added that he has not received any “official signal” from Bhandari police station over the incident. He said that till Wednesday the situation was under control.
Meanwhile, Lotha Middle Range Students’ Union (LMRSU) and Englan Range Students’ Union (ERSU) have extended support towards indefinite bandh called by Kyong Hoho along Wokha – Merapani road. LMRSU and ERSU also condemned the incident where six Naga boys were assaulted by a mob near CRPF check gate, Merapani (Foot Hill) Nagaland and damaged public properties and vehicles worth lakhs of rupees.

The LMRSU cautioned individuals for committing such crime in their jurisdiction.
They also appealed to the law enforcing agencies to book the culprit at the earliest and award befitting punishment.
