Elvis Presley was larger than life, and the Elvis experience is an amazing phenomenon that has continued to astonish 34 years after his death in 1977.
A tribute concert for the King of Rock & Roll on Wednesday at Cosmos Hall Mokokchung under the banner “Remembering Elvis” was organized by the Hunting Boots Inc. in collaboration with the Cosmos Hall Management.
The event dubbed “Nagaland’s annual tribute to Elvis” was graced by Dr, Nicky Kire, Chairman NKVIB and Advisor Music Task Force as the chief guest.
Speaking briefly at the program, the chief guest reminisced how the King of Rock & Roll started his music career, about his life and his rise to fame and how Elvis’ music touched the lives of many.
The program then started off with a concert. The ambience of the hall, the setting and last but not the least, all of Elvis’ greatest and most memorable songs were brought back to life as various artists performed his hit numbers including the chief guest himself.
The Graceland Harmony Choir, named after Elvis’ mansion, with their backup vocals added to the whole Elvis atmosphere. Popular Elvis hits like Blue Suede Shoes, Jail House Rock, took the audience to their feet, and the chief guest along with his brother DGP K. Kire and Gugs Chishi went up on stage to join HBI members in singing.
Besides, performances by Renbeni Odyuo, Sharyn Chang, Atsungla Imchen, Imliakum, Noksang Pongen, Dr. Nicky Kire and the Hunting Boots Inc., all livened up the evening.
Meanwhile, Naga Idol 2010 winner Renbeni Odyuo also released her debut album “Essence” for the Mokokchung chapter. The album was released by Deputy Commissioner Lithrongla G Chishi. While lauding the effort of Renbeni, Lithrongla also encouraged all the youngsters to follow suit and strive forward.
Renbeni also presented a solo from her newly released album.
The program was attended by MLA Toshipokba, DGP K. Kire, Music Task Force Director Gugs Chishi, DC and SP Mokokchung besides hordes of Elvis’ fans.
