Kohima police has apprehended an alleged interstate car lifter along with a stolen Mahindra Bolero bearing false registration number. SP Kohima said though details of the interrogation can not be disclosed at the moment, the accused identified as one Lamabam Naobi Singh (29), Nagamapal Kangjabi village, PS Imphal West, seemed to be a part of a larger and well organized interstate network of car lifters.
According to police the recovered Bolero was to be disposed off at Imphal. The police counterparts in Assam and Meghalaya have already been informed about the arrest, the police said. Meanwhile, Meghalaya police special team would be arriving at Kohima as two separate cases of car lifting were pending against the arrested persons at Shillong, police said, adding further investigation was in progress.
