Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mahila Morcha State Unit staged a protest against the arrest of Anna Hazare by Delhi police at BJP office Dimapur on Thursday.
Interacting with media persons, national vice president BJP Mahila Morcha Sardha Devi said her visit to the state was to guide and organize the unit and further revealed that during the meeting with the members of the unit, various issues including women empowerment was discussed.
While extending support to Anna Hazare, Devi said the arrest on Anna Hazare by the government was illegal, undemocratic and unconstitutional.
Stating the BJP has been against corruption since the beginning, she affirmed the BJP Mahila Morcha along with its leaders was in support of Anna Hazare to eliminate corruption from the country.
Blaming the central government for taking a wrong step in arresting Hazare and misleading the people, Devi said the BJP Mahila Morcha condemned the very act and also questioned the government on why they are scared to implement the Lokpal Bill.
It may be mentioned that other states of north east region were also protesting against the arrest of Anna Hazare.
