Naga Mothers Association Monday asserted it was “deeply concerned” with serious issue of bogus teachers, fake certificates of teachers and bogus appointment orders in education department.
Maintaining that teachers were highly respected in the society as they were “moulders and builders of our nation”, the NMA president and secretary in a joint statement however said the rate of “corrupt practices” that existed within state education system was “mind boggling” as per SIT report, which, they said had been carefully studied by NMA.
“As mothers who are very concerned for the future of our students and children, we reiterate that we cannot compromise on such criminal activities,” they said.
The NMA also disclosed it was convening an emergency meeting of the NMA education committee, consisting of prominent academicians, on August 25 next to discuss the report of the Vigilance SIT on bogus teachers and related matters. It would then submit official representation to the state government after taking decisions, NMA said.
Meanwhile, the NMA urged state government, including the state cabinet , to prove its commitment to the future of the children by taking “decisive steps” to immediately terminate all those found guilty, irrespective of connections, tribe or otherwise, and penalize all wrong doers as per the law.
The Naga mothers also appealed to the state government to address the grievances of “genuine teachers” and avoid “unpleasant confrontations.” Further, it stated that rights of citizens or teachers to peacefully protest and air grievances in a democratic country must be allowed without provocative steps from either side.
