Department of land resources development Tuensang on Tuesday distributed organic ‘Kholar’ seeds to farmers of Tuensang district under crop production at CCSU Conference hall Tuensang, Mhomo Tungoe EAC Sotokur Tuensang as chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Mhomo said Kholar was ‘a cultural and geographical’ identity of the district, which was produced in large quantity every year, thereby benefiting the people of the area.
He also urged the department and people not to depend on the government but to focus and initiate on marketing outlets in order to survive.
The chief guest further encouraged the rural farmers to cultivate with proper instructions and methods for quality agricultural production.
He also appealed to the people to be aware of global warming, where crops production get effected due to ecological degradation, mud slides and soil erosion.
Z. Tsanso Yim, Chairman Kholar Nagaland also lauded the effort made by the department for paying special attention to rural farmers and hoped the department would continue their service towards the farmers in future.
Earlier the programme was chaired by Kughalu K. Chishi, while introductory note was delivered by Yimkhong Sipong. Vote of thanks was proposed by M. Mongo. The programme concluded with distribution of Kholar seeds to the rural farmers.
