NSCN/GPRN Sunday accused Manipur chief minister Ibobi Singh of trying to derail the ongoing “Indo-Naga” peace talks, stating his animosity towards the process and the Nagas in general needed no elaboration.
According to the MIP NSCN/GPRN, the Manipur chief minister has shown his “antagonism towards the Indo-Naga peace talks” being held under the banner of National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) on several occasions with destructive remarks against Naga interests.
Accusing Ibobi of trying to derail the “Indo-Naga” peace process by charging the NSCN and branding it as a “terrorist organization”, the MIP stated such claim was “most unbecoming” and demeaning by the chief minister of a state.
It maintained that Ibobi would not hesitate to blame the NSCN for any “terror-like incident” to demand revocation of the cease fire.
Citing the recent bomb blast incident in Sangakpham Bazaar Imphal, the MIP alleged that O. Ibobi had “hurriedly” blamed the NSCN and even claimed he would brief the Centre on the activities of NSCN in the state in order to press the government of India to revoke the ceasefire.
However, MIP stated when the truth began to unfold; Ibobi admitted in the Manipur Assembly that the person arrested in connection with the bomb blast was not an NSCN cadre but an Indian Reserve Battalion jawan.
MIP said it was “a public mockery” for a person of a chief minister’s stature to find himself in the wrong place, by putting the blame on NSCN when his own jawan was allegedly involved. It said such episode only proved the “ulterior motive” of Ibobi against NSCN and to sabotage the hard earned peace process.
The MIP further maintained it was a matter of fact that the government of India had come around to recognize the uniqueness of Naga history and situation and gave the commitment that solution would also be unique.
MIP said Ibobi’s “extra interest” on issues such as the ongoing standoff in Manipur on creation of Sadar Hills district and Jiribam district indicated his plot against the territorial interest of the Nagas.
MIP however asserted that attachment of Nagas to their God given ancestral land would not allow Ibobi to have his way “no matter what comes”.
