Reacting to allegations of the NPCC that deplorable road conditions in Nagaland were due to “mis-governance and monstrous corruption”, the NPF press bureau maintained that the NPF-led DAN government under chief minister Neiphiu Rio has addressed the herculean task of construction of good and comfortable road connectivity in the hilly/mountainous terrains and diverse topographical conditions in Nagaland.
Stating that developmental works of such magnitude under prevailing harsh condition required enormous finance, manpower, resources and time, the bureau asserted that that NPF-led DAN government has done and is doing a mammoth job in bringing about development, beautification and modernization of Nagaland “in just a few years time in office.”
The bureau cited CLP Tokheho Yepthomi’s “personal account” wherein he showcased construction of roads, bridges and other developmental activities under DAN-I government in which he was cabinet minister. It further maintained that besides the claims made by Tokheho when he was DAN cabinet minister that appeared in the local dailies on February 27, 2011; the bureau asserted that “much more progress on the development front have taken place and are in progress.”
The NPF press bureau asserted that while inclement weather condition and torrential rains have caused massive landslides leading to road blocks throughout the mountainous state since early part of the year, the government has left no stone unturned to safeguard people’s welfare and vehicular movement due to havoc caused by nature.
The bureau said the DAN government has sincerely strived to improve the living standards of people through numerous developmental activities, lightning repair and renovation and in particular, better road constructions. However, it said, even before execution of works or funding, the NPCC’s attack against the government that deplorable roads were due to “mis-governance and monstrous corruption was a “sheer attempt to malign the sincere efforts and good works and achievement of the government of the day.”
It also hit back at the NPCC media cell for seeming to be ignorant of how the Congress-led UPA government at the centre was embroiled in multi-crore corruption and scams which has today led people from all walks of life across the nation to join Anna Hazare’s indefinite fast demanding the Jan Lok Pal bill “for a corruption free India.”
