Businessman rescued from Tuli

In a joint operation by Nagaland and Assam police, a Sivasagar based businessman was rescued from a jungle near Tuli town, Mokokchung district  Sunday. Four persons, allegedly involved have also been arrested in connection with the case.

According to police, Anil Jain, the proprietor of the Serekapar petrol depot in Sivasagar, went missing on September 15 when he was on his way to his business establishment.

Jain’s family members lodged a complaint at Sivasagar police station on September 17, alleging that he was missing and was suspected to be kidnapped. “…Acting on a tip-off, we launched a joint operation with Nagaland Police at Tuli yesterday and rescued the man from a jungle near Tuli railway station,” said OC of Sivasagar Sadar police station, Devranjan Sharma.

“The kidnapper sought a ransom of Rs 40 lakh from the family members… We arrested four persons, identified as Hemanta Gogoi, Anjan Rabi, Naba Gogoi and Iftarul Ahmed, red-handed from their hideouts.
