Nagaland Music Education and Arts Society (NMEAS) formerly known as Chancel Choir Foundation for Performing Arts along with Government of Nagaland as chief patron in collaboration with Indian Council for Cultural Relations (Ministry of External Affairs) and Sangeet Natak Akademi (Ministry of culture) Government of India would be organizing an international cultural festival called the ‘International Culture-Mix Festival’ from October 5 to 8 at Dimapur.

More than forty musicians from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, USA along with Naga musicians would be participating in the event. Interacting with the media, chairman NMEAS Lipokmar Tzudir said the festival would provide an opportunity for global and local artists to interact with each other. He said that during the festival’s workshops and performances, artists of varied practices could engage in dialogue, share ideas, experiences, expose and appreciate the uniqueness of each culture and frame mutual benefits for future prospects.

Tzudir was of the opinion that for long, north east region despite its rich culture and natural resources have missed opportunities in the overall understanding of the country’s cultural life, adding that lack of modern infrastructures and institutions marred by years of insurgencies and certain amount of negligence from certain sectors have only contributed to its decline.

Stating Nagaland was relatively peaceful and growing rapidly, he said the government of India’s Look East Policy was a growing realization and appreciation of what the region can contribute towards an emerging India, and that government of India has been facilitating avenues and engaging north east region for sharing ideas and mutual respect in the global scene.

Further, Tzudir said NMEAS has been actively involved in nurturing and promoting art forms of north east India and hoped the festival would be an opportunity for people to learn more of trombone and trumpet which are less popular in the state.

He also disclosed that at the grand finale chief minister Neiphiu Rio would be the chief patron.
It may be mentioned that Kulturmix or Cultural Mix is a concept for people who love singing and meetings with different cultural expressions and who are eager to learn more about cultures that differ greatly from its own; it’s a combination of ordinary tourism and extraordinary interactive cultural experiences.
Around 40 persons from Europe are expected to attend the festival.

The main attraction of the festival would be soloist TC Hawkins (USA), pianist Per Arild (Norway), trumpet Hayden Powell (UK), trombone Jan Lnge Melseter (Norway), guitar Sosang Longkumer (Nagaland), drums Rovi Sangma (Nagaland), bass guitar Moa Yaden (Nagaland), choir from Scandinavia and Nagaland, festival coordinator Moanungsang and conductors Per Oddvar Hildre (Norway)  and Lipokmar Tzudir (Nagaland).
